17-year-old Amelia S. Sent Back Home
It was fitting that Tom Cornell, long-time counselor to conscientious objectors and co-founder of the Catholic Peace Fellowship, was the first to find out from the Indiana National Guard that Amelia S. of East Chicago would be released. He informed the staff of the Catholic Peace Fellowship on the afternoon of June 4, and a staff call to Indiana National Guard Public Affairs confirmed the news. At 1:30 PM on June 5, Mike Schorsch spoke with Amelia and she told him that she was on her way home. Read more.

The Sign of Peace
The Sign of Peace journal brings a theological and scholarly look to matters of war and peace.
The latest issue focuses on the "Good War," World War II. We feature articles about those who resisted the Nazi regime nonviolently, including the village of Le Chambon, the White Rose Martyrs, and Franz Jägerstätter. We reprint seminal pieces from the era by Catholic moral theologian John C. Ford, SJ and philosopher Elizabeth Anscombe, both of whom questioned the Allies' true motivations in fighting the war (available only in the print version). Meanwhile, the editors give answers to "seven perennial questions" that people working for peace often face about the Second World War.

Support CPF

Help raise a mighty league of conscientious objectors! Our resources are few, but with your help, CPF can keep reaching out to soldiers and students, sharing the Church's tradition of peace. And just think how much is being spent to "share" the tradition of war... A LOT.
